Associate Mechanical Design Engineer

TL;DR

Associate Mechanical Design Engineer (UAV Power Systems): Supporting design, development, and implementation of battery and charger products for UAVs with an accent on mechanical parts, fixtures, and rapid prototyping. Focus on dimensioning calculations, product packaging optimization, generating drawings, and cross-department collaboration to meet performance and reliability targets.

Location: Onsite in Munich, Bayern, Germany. Ability to work from our offices in Munich, Germany required.

What you will do

• Collaborate with ME, EE, SE, and SYS departments to clarify product requirements and dependencies.
• Participate in design concept identification, basic dimensioning, and thermal calculations.
• Design industrializable mechanical parts and fixtures, focusing on injection molding.
• Perform in-house rapid prototyping using 3D printing to derisk designs early.
• Generate part and product drawings for procurement and prepare development documentation including BoM and assembly instructions.
• Support product meetings, tool design for testing, and continuous improvement of ME department processes.

Requirements

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Ability to work from our offices in Munich, Germany
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (Master's preferred).
• Minimum 2 years of experience in mechanical design (including student projects like Formula Student).
• Proficiency in Catia V5.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes (injection molding, machining, casting, stamping).
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
