TL;DR

Layout TA (Maya): Providing technical support for layout scenes and assets in CG animation projects with an accent on ingest of previs files, asset continuity, and delivery to downstream departments. Focus on quality control, bug resolution, camera preparation, and pipeline improvements while ensuring consistency with supervisors' and clients' vision.

Location: Sydney, New South Wales (Hybrid). Prioritising candidates based in Sydney, no remote opportunities available.

What you will do

• Provide technical support for layout scenes and assets, delivering to downstream departments like animation, lighting, and compositing.
• Ingest and interpret client assets and previs files into layout scenes, ensuring continuity and flow within and between shots.
• Work with asset teams and editors to incorporate pre-visualization into sequences.
• Perform daily support including bug resolution, quality control for shots, set sweep cameras, and test shots for lighting.
• Work within pipeline constraints, provide feedback for improvements, and flag issues impacting milestones.
• Maintain VFX Supervisor, Layout Supervisor, and client vision throughout the project.

Requirements

• Must be based in Sydney area.
• Solid experience with Maya in production environment.
• Solid knowledge of layout 2.5D/3D workflows, CG/live-action camera lenses, camera rigs, and cinematography.
• Experience with character rigs and basic understanding of character animation.
• Strong communication, ability to meet deadlines, work independently or under supervision, and adapt to changes.
• Attention to detail, enthusiasm for animation, cameras, and cinematography.

Nice to have

• Ability to script using Python and/or MEL.
