Senior Safety Auditor (WHS)

Senior Safety Auditor (WHS): Evaluating risk management, governance, and Safety, Health & Wellbeing frameworks across a national network of stores and hotels with an accent on high-risk site audits and regulatory compliance. Focus on translating technical data into actionable business improvements and delivering high-stakes insights to executive leadership.

Location: Hybrid in Sydney (Barangaroo), NSW (3 days office / 2 days WFH) with regular interstate travel (approx. 1 week per month)

What you will do

• Conduct high-risk site and system audits using the National Audit Tool (NAT) to ensure strict compliance with operational controls.
• Develop and maintain a risk-based national audit schedule leveraging performance data and regulatory trends.
• Oversee SHW and Injury Management Self-Insurance licenses in alignment with Board and State regulatory requirements.
• Deliver data-driven findings and actionable recommendations to operational management, executive leadership, and the Audit & Risk Committee.
• Mentor and upskill junior team members while identifying opportunities to refine internal audit processes and tools.

Requirements

• Cert IV in WHS (minimum); a Diploma in WHS is highly desirable.
• Proven track record as a Safety Advisor or Auditor, ideally within retail, hospitality, or Self-Insured License Organisations.
• Strong working knowledge of the National Audit Tool (NAT) and Safety, Health, and Wellbeing Management Systems.
• Advanced verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Comfortable with and available for regular interstate travel (approx. 1 week per month).

Nice to have

• Experience auditing Safety, Health, and Wellbeing Management Systems.
• Proficiency in the Australian Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing.
• Ability to seamlessly integrate SHW management systems into everyday business practices.
