TL;DR
Research Associate (Vector Engineering): Assist with execution of in vitro and in vivo studies aimed at developing brain-wide gene therapy for neurodegenerative disease with an accent on molecular biology techniques and rodent handling. Focus on culturing stem cell-derived neurons, performing injections, tissue processing, staining, and microscopy analysis.
Location: On-Site in Cambridge, MA

What you will do
- Culture human embryonic stem cell-derived neurons
- Perform molecular biology techniques including DNA/RNA purification, PCR, qPCR, and protein analysis
- Conduct IP and IV injections in rodents, tissue sectioning, cryo-sectioning
- Execute immunohistochemistry staining and fluorescence microscopy
- Extract and purify RNA/DNA from mammalian tissues, organize and track samples
- Maintain records, analyze data, order supplies, troubleshoot, and present at team meetings
Requirements
- B.S. or M.S. in biology-related field
- Experience handling mice or small laboratory animals
- Hands-on experience extracting DNA/RNA from cells or tissues
- Foundational knowledge and hands-on experience with PCR and molecular biology techniques
- Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture
- Experience in BL2 or BL2+ environment, exceptional organizational skills, strong communication
