Mechanical Design Engineer - Intern

TL;DR

Mechanical Design Engineer - Intern: Design of prototype parts, test fixtures, and engineering validation testing with an accent on innovation in EV charging hardware. Focus on prototype assembly, root cause and failure analysis, and creating engineering documentation like drawings and BOMs.

Location: Campbell, CA. Local applicants preferred as relocation assistance is not offered.

Salary: $25 to $30 hourly.

What you will do

• Design prototype parts and test fixtures.
• Design experiments and perform engineering validation testing.
• Document test results in reports and present to the organization.
• Assemble prototypes.
• Create engineering documentation including drawings and bills of material.
• Conduct root cause and failure analysis.

Requirements

• Actively enrolled in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or related degree (3rd year or beyond).
• At least 2 prior internships; prior experience as intern, lab/teaching assistant, or in student design projects (e.g., SAE Formula-E).
• At least 1 year with Siemens NX CAD from prior internship.
• Experience with shop tools.
• Knowledge of heat transfer, basic electrical circuits, and stress/strain analysis.
• Availability for full-time internship; local to Campbell, CA preferred.
• Excellent communication skills.
