What you will do

• Operate and evolve 100+ WarpStream clusters across multiple cloud providers for ingestion and read/write decoupling in databases like Mimir, Loki, and Tempo.
• Diagnose and eliminate failure modes such as object storage latency, noisy neighbors, and query regressions.
• Design safe upgrade and rollout strategies at scale for production infrastructure.
• Improve observability, automation, and operational ergonomics for distributed systems.
• Partner with database and platform teams on scaling, partitioning, fan-out, and performance.
• Serve as escalation point for incidents, manage on-call, and own vendor relationships.

Requirements

• Live in Ireland time zones
• 6+ years engineering experience including SRE, platform, production, infrastructure, or distributed systems roles.
• Experience operating distributed systems in production (e.g., Kafka, WarpStream, Postgres, ClickHouse).
• Strong Kubernetes in AWS, GCP, or Azure; IaC tools like Helm, Terraform, Jsonnet.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems design, Linux internals, networking, cloud storage.
• Proficiency in Go (preferred) or another language; blameless incident response experience.
• Clear communication for remote collaboration across regions.
