What you will do

• Lead coverage on energy and natural resources sectors, including business impacts of geopolitical events, energy transition, critical minerals, renewables, and mining M&A.
• Commission eye-catching stories, plan coverage, and work with reporters in London and overseas offices to manage workflow and chase news.
• Copy edit news stories for punch and longer pieces for shine, ensuring text sings and non-text elements like data visuals are compelling.
• Conceive, plan, and commission special projects including series, investigations, and data or visually-led storytelling.
• Coordinate coverage across sectors, liaise with other desks and overseas teams, and deputise for colleagues as needed.
• Work regular Sunday shifts as part of the desk rota.

Requirements

• London-based with minimum 3 days onsite per week; flexible working requests considered but not all patterns suit editorial roles.
• Experienced corporate reporter moving into editing or editor with natural resources expertise and global experience.
• Skilled in commissioning, planning coverage, copy editing, and producing distinctive agenda-setting content.
• Able to develop close relationships with reporters to deliver scoops and high-impact pieces.
• Refrain from using AI for writing or reader-facing content; monitored in application process.
