Sr. Software Engineer

TL;DR

Sr. Software Engineer (Backend): Own and drive business-critical product areas including scorekeeping, fan experiences, and team management throughout backend services with an accent on designing scalable high-performance services and evolving APIs. Focus on architectural decisions for scalability, addressing performance bottlenecks, ensuring security and data integrity.

Location: Work remotely throughout the US or from a modern office in Manhattan, NY.

What you will do

• Own and drive business-critical product areas including scorekeeping, fan experiences, and team management in backend services.
• Design, build, and operate scalable, high-performance backend services in production.
• Lead projects and collaborate with Product, Design, QA, and other engineers to deliver technical solutions.
• Evolve APIs and service contracts for reliable communication between systems and clients.
• Contribute to architecture for scalability, maintainability, and productivity.
• Identify performance issues, improve reliability, and deliver new features while ensuring security and compliance.
• Conduct code reviews, provide design feedback, and share knowledge.
• Maintain technical documentation.

Requirements

• 6+ years in software development.
• 4+ years building production backend systems (Node.js, TypeScript, Python or similar).
• Experience designing and implementing scalable, performant backend services.
• Strong background in API design, service boundaries, and data contracts.
• Outstanding problem-solving and communication skills.
• Experience mentoring engineers and fostering collaboration.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with TypeScript.
• Experience with AWS environments.
