Director of Engineering Delivery

Director of Engineering Delivery (Maritime Defence): Oversee engineering delivery, governance, and risk management for complex naval technology projects with an accent on mobilisation plans, technical reviews, and strategic alignment. Focus on leading engineering managers, improving delivery maturity, and influencing stakeholders across programmes and customers.

Location: Hybrid in Greenford, Loudwater, or Weymouth, UK. Must provide evidence of eligibility to work in the UK and pass Baseline Personnel Security Standard Check (BPSS) or further security vetting.

What you will do

• Review and approve engineering estimates, risks, plans, and mobilisation ahead of key gates and reviews.
• Chair or independently review Technical Baseline and Design Reviews.
• Lead engineering risk management, mobilisation processes, and demand profiling across the organisation.
• Drive strategic initiatives for technical debt reduction and delivery maturity improvement.
• Coach and support Engineering Managers and Project Engineering Leads.
• Influence stakeholders including PMs, customers, and senior engineering leadership on resource planning and strategy.

Requirements

• Eligibility to work in the UK with evidence for up to three years of employment/education history; BPSS security check required (further vetting possible).
• Expertise in engineering delivery, integrating people, processes, and tools.
• Experience tailoring processes to optimise productivity, reduce risk, cost, and schedule.
• Proven leadership, mentoring, and coaching of engineering leaders.
• Strategic mindset for aligning delivery with business goals.
• Strong stakeholder influence across engineering, programme management, and customers.
• Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering; typically Master's level and experience in complex engineering environments.
• Proficiency in office tools and engineering tools like DOORS, UML, ERPs, and Configuration Management.
