TL;DR

Embedded Software Engineer (Electronic Controls): Develop embedded controls and software for diesel engines and hybrid power systems with an accent on engine control, aftertreatment systems, digital integration, telematics, and condition monitoring. Focus on gathering requirements, designing and implementing software, testing, debugging, and optimizing for performance, safety, and predictive maintenance.

Location: Onsite in Peterborough, UK 5 days per week. Visa sponsorship not available.

Salary: £41,593 + depending on experience

What you will do

• Gather and analyse user and customer requirements, translating them into clear software requirements.
• Design, implement, and document embedded software, enhancing and maintaining existing codebases.
• Test, debug, and optimise embedded software using various tools to improve quality and performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams for post-production support and field issue resolution.
• Deliver robust, production-ready software solutions using engineering and computer science background.

Requirements

• Working experience in technical problem-solving, effective communication, analysis, and troubleshooting.
• Passion for applying technology, logic, analytical reasoning, coding (traditional/model-based), and control theory to engineering problems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify root causes and evaluate solutions.
• Working knowledge of software development: coding, unit testing, code reviews, modern tools (Simulink, Visual Studio, Git).
• Experience with requirements analysis, structured documentation, and system/software testing.
• Strong technical troubleshooting using logs, tools, and structured methods.
