Applications Software Engineer (Embedded)

Applications Software Engineer (Embedded): Assist in developing sample code, demo applications, and proof-of-concepts for S32-family MPUs with an accent on customer integration and issue reproduction. Focus on debugging bootloaders, drivers, multi-core initialization, memory subsystems, and HW/SW interactions in Linux environments.

Location: Rožnov (Czech Republic) or Glasgow (UK). Valid visa and work permit to work in Czech Republic required at application stage.

What you will do

• Develop sample code, demos, and proof-of-concepts to help customers adopt MPU features.
• Reproduce customer issues, collect logs, isolate failures, and root-cause problems in bootloaders, drivers, and subsystems.
• Support customer integration of NXP software, advising on configuration, patches, and debugging.
• Perform board-level bring-up tasks like serial console and boot diagnostics.
• Collaborate with internal teams on issue tracking, escalation, and documentation.
• Grow expertise in multi-core Linux, high-speed interfaces, and embedded debug.

Requirements

• 2–3 years professional software experience in systems programming, embedded Linux, or platform bring-up.
• Strong debugging skills: reading logs, tracing code, forming hypotheses.
• Proficiency in C, C++, Python for debugging, scripting, integration.
• Valid visa and work permit for Czech Republic.
• Curiosity to learn multi-core systems, memory architecture, interrupts.

Nice to have

• Bootloaders (U-Boot), device tree, kernel drivers.
• Yocto or similar build systems.
• Automotive experience (standards, ECUs).
• Hardware-aware software: timing, concurrency.
