Youth Program Specialist (VRISE)

TL;DR

Youth Program Specialist (VRISE): Delivering 2–4 virtual classes per week and providing administrative support for spring and summer programming for newcomer elementary-aged youth with an accent on English literacy, grammar, art, and social-emotional learning. Focus on facilitating activities, outreach, enrollment, assessments, and data analysis to ensure program effectiveness.

Location: Hybrid (Seattle, WA, USA). Need access to reliable high-speed internet and transportation to sites in Tukwila, Auburn, Kent, Everett, and Federal Way.

Compensation: Pay Range: $28.00 - $29.50/hour

What you will do

• Plan, prepare, and facilitate virtual afterschool VRISE and VSRISE programs including large and small group activities in literacy, grammar, art, and SEL.
• Conduct outreach, enroll students, communicate with families and teachers, and provide academic support at partnering schools.
• Develop and implement assessments, lead ETO data entry and analysis for virtual reading programs.
• Train and supervise interns and volunteers, participate in meetings and staff development.
• Create trauma-informed learning spaces and build supportive relationships with newcomer students.

Requirements

• Written and spoken proficiency in English, professional proficiency in Dari and Pashto.
• High School diploma or equivalent; 1+ years experience working with elementary-age students, preferably multilingual or refugee/immigrant backgrounds.
• Cross-cultural experience with refugee/immigrant communities.
• Proficiency in Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Flexible, team-oriented, committed to anti-racism, DEI, and trauma-informed approaches.

Nice to have

• BA in Education, Teaching, Child/Youth Development or equivalent.
• Classroom teaching, tutoring, or enrichment program experience.
