Research Group Leader in Molecular Data Science (Health Data Science): Establish and lead an independent research group to advance understanding of non-communicable diseases using large-scale multimodal datasets with an accent on disease aetiology, early detection, and prevention strategies. Focus on developing quantitative methods for causation, prediction, and control in cardiovascular, metabolic diseases, immunology, cancer, or neurodevelopmental conditions.
Location: Based in Milan, Italy with relocation support for researchers moving to Italy

What you will do
- Establish and lead an independent research group in molecular data science within the Health Data Science Centre.
- Develop and supervise a world-class research programme focused on non-communicable diseases.
- Participate in interdisciplinary Flagship Research Programmes and collaborative studies across HT and external partners.
- Create collaborations and infrastructures serving the broader community.
- Mentor and develop early-career researchers and multidisciplinary teams.
- Raise third-party funding and contribute to Centre reports and initiatives.
Requirements
- Fluency in English (written and spoken).
- PhD in quantitative domain (data science, epidemiology, genetic epidemiology, biostatistics, computational biology or related).
- Strong quantitative expertise and proven track record in chronic conditions research (causation, prediction, prevention).
- Outstanding international research output and clear scientific vision aligned with HDS Centre.
- Experience securing funding, building collaborations, and leading/mentoring teams.
- Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in multi-cultural environment.
