TL;DR
Senior Backend Engineer (Go): Developing systems that manage core financial and underwriting operations, coordinating dynamic machine learning models for policy management with an accent on API design, data orchestration, and architecture optimization. Focus on building high-performance client/server systems, database schemas, automated tests, and leading end-to-end feature implementations.
Location: Remote within the US (excluding U.S. territories). Occasional travel may be requested but not required. Employees in San Francisco Bay Area or Providence, Rhode Island may commute optionally. Core hours 9AM-2PM Pacific Time.
Salary: $195,000 to $280,000

What you will do
- Design and implement client-facing and internal APIs
- Orchestrate data flows between backend systems
- Create and manage database schemas
- Build automated test suites
- Lead design and implementation of substantial product features end-to-end
- Evaluate and integrate third-party services and tools
- Mentor mid-level and junior engineers
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 5-7+ years in full stack or backend role
- Professional experience with Go
- Experience designing, developing, debugging, and deploying high-performance client/server systems
- Comfort with relational and non-relational databases
- Familiarity with messaging systems, cloud infrastructure, CI/CD
- Knowledge of security and testing best practices
- Strong communication, growth mindset, initiative, technical lead experience

- GraphQL, gRPC, Postgres, Mongo, Snowflake, Kafka, Python, TypeScript, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS
- Experience in financial sector (insurance, banking, investing)
