TL;DR
Senior Software Engineer II (Publishing): Building core publishing platform and creator growth experiences including emails, landing pages, and newsletters with an accent on architecting complex features, design system stewardship, and frontend tooling. Focus on transforming legacy codebase through refactoring, leading major features from ideation to launch, and elevating technical standards across the team.
100% remote with team members across the globe. Core collaboration hours 10:45am to 2pm Eastern Time; expect some overlap if based on West Coast US, Europe, or Asia.
Level 4 base salary $186K ($180K–$192K range) • $50K equity • Profit sharing

What you will do
- Dive into codebase, set up environment, and ship first production code in the first week.
- Understand publishing tools end-to-end, contribute PRs weekly, and participate in planning, building, and measuring.
- Lead and architect major features from ambiguity to launch, refactor legacy code for scalability, and drive technical standards.
- Participate in on-call rotations, mentor peers, present Lunch & Learn sessions, and collaborate with Product and Design.
Requirements
- Deep expertise in React, JavaScript, modern CSS (e.g., Tailwind) for complex web apps with beautiful UX.
- Strong Ruby on Rails experience (preferred) or other backend frameworks; fullstack from browser to database.
- Ability to architect scalable, accessible systems with frontend testing; plan and execute ambiguous projects.
- Experience leading technical projects, partnering with Product/Design, refactoring legacy code, and mentoring.
- High agency, adaptability, clear communication, growth mindset, and interest in AI.
Nice to have
- Rich text editors (SlateJS, ProseMirror), email-safe HTML/CSS, user-facing AI features.
- Frontend bundling tools, creator economy/publishing background.
