Lab Services Engineer

TL;DR

Lab Services Engineer (GPU Infrastructure): Support day-to-day operation, maintenance, and readiness of lab environments for AI GPU cloud infrastructure with an accent on hardware deployment, troubleshooting, and asset management. Focus on installing and configuring servers, using automation to provision clusters, monitoring physical conditions, and contributing to operational improvements.

Location: Presence required in UK labs and/or datacenters. Remote-first company but hands-on role in physical environments.

What you will do

• Support daily running of lab environments, ensuring they are organized and operational.
• Install, rack, cable, configure, and maintain lab hardware including servers and networking equipment.
• Assist with hardware bring-up, diagnostics, validation, and replacements.
• Monitor lab conditions like power, cooling, cabling, and space utilization.
• Manage asset tracking, stock control, and hardware lifecycle processes.
• Use automation tooling to provision, validate, and manage lab clusters.
• Troubleshoot hardware, networking, and environment issues.
• Maintain documentation, inventories, and runbooks while collaborating with engineering teams.

Requirements

• Practical understanding of server hardware, networking, cabling, and infrastructure operations.
• Hands-on troubleshooting of hardware and infrastructure issues.
• Good organizational skills, attention to detail, and record-keeping.
• Experience in lab, datacenter, hardware operations, or similar hands-on environments.
• Experience installing and supporting server or networking equipment.
• Basic knowledge of Linux, networking, and infrastructure operations beneficial.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with GPU-based systems or HPC environments.
• Experience supporting development or test environments.
• Exposure to automation, provisioning, or infrastructure management tools.
