TL;DR

Principal Voice Engineer (VoIP): Ensuring operability of voice and VoIP infrastructure, including troubleshooting, maintenance, growth, and provisioning customer services with an accent on carrier-grade Session Border Controllers and SIP protocols. Focus on designing enterprise-wide solutions, implementing disaster recovery, and collaborating on escalations in a high-stress, global team environment.

USA - Remote. Must support flexible schedule, on-call rotation, occasional nights/weekends.

What you will do

  • Lead voice infrastructure projects as the Subject Matter Expert for Sales, Operations, Product, and other teams.
  • Design, upgrade, troubleshoot, and maintain voice networks, including Ribbon Communications and AudioCodes SBCs.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, customers, and vendors to implement enterprise solutions and resolve escalated issues.
  • Perform routine maintenance, monitor outages, plan disaster recovery, and conduct proof-of-concepts.
  • Train and mentor junior team members, perform knowledge transfer, and adhere to company policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications or equivalent + 8+ years experience.
  • Expert knowledge of VoIP, SIP protocols, and Session Border Controllers in carrier-grade environments.
  • Advanced skills with Ribbon Communications/Sonus or AudioCodes; call routing, quality metrics, LCR, Number Portability.
  • Proficiency in Wireshark, network monitoring, UNIX/Linux CLI, trouble ticket systems (Remedy/ServiceNow).
  • Knowledge of WebRTC, TLS, SRTP, IP networks (TCP/IP, routing, VLAN, IPSEC, DNS, DHCP).
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving; thrive in high-pressure environments with flexible/on-call schedule.

  • UNIX/Linux admin, contact centers, call recording (SIPREC), Ribbon Analytics.
