VoIP Engineer

TL;DR

VoIP Engineer (Telephony): Design new features for the hirify.global Telephony Engine and guide software developers on implementation with an accent on VoIP technologies, SIP proxies, and system integrations. Focus on operating and maintaining Kamailio/OpenSIPS proxies, handling L3 escalations, analyzing traffic patterns, and resolving voice/network issues.

What you will do

• Understand Telephony services integration and operate/maintain/expand SIP proxies based on Kamailio or OpenSIPS.
• Handle level 3 troubleshooting escalations, analyze traffic patterns, and identify anomalies.
• React to critical alerts, troubleshoot voice/network protocols, and rapidly restore full service.
• Design, build, test, deploy monitoring/alerting/QA/logging tools for Telephony applications.
• Interface with partners for interconnections/expansions and coordinate maintenance/deployments.
• Work with global users, engineers, business/sales/ops to solve communications challenges and build features.

Requirements

• Remote from Brazil, Argentina, or Mexico
• Degree in Computer Science, IT, Telecommunications or similar.
• Strong understanding of IP telephony (VoIP), TCP/IP, protocols (SIP, RTP, RTCP, ISUP, TLS, STUN, TURN, WebRTC).
• Experience with Open Source VoIP apps (Kamailio, OpenSIPS, FreeSWITCH, RTPEngine, Asterisk) and tools (Wireshark, sngrep, Homer).
• Experience with Linux, Open Source tools, shell scripting, containers (Docker), automation (Ansible, Jenkins, Kubernetes).

Nice to have

• Familiarity with programming in Python, Elixir, or Go.
