Customer Service Technician

TL;DR

Customer Service Technician (Telecom): Installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting high-speed internet, video, and voice networks including associated wiring and equipment with an accent on outside plant facilities. Focus on performing physical repairs like climbing poles, digging and burying cables, and directing customer-facing work.

Location: Onsite at 2930 Chestnut Ridge Rd, Kingwood, TX (USA). Requires valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record, and ability to work varying shifts including overtime, weekends, holidays, in all weather, confined spaces, and aloft.

What you will do

• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot high-speed internet, video, and voice networks including wiring and equipment
• Perform maintenance and repair on outside plant facilities
• Climb poles, dig up and bury cable, work in utility access holes or vaults, and locate buried cables
• Observe all safety rules and assist other technicians
• Support sales and marketing activities and direct customer-facing work

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Ability to distinguish colors, handle heavy ladders (75 lbs) and covers (150 lbs)
• Complete boot camp training on POTS/DSL, cable splicing, basic transmissions, HSI installs
• Basic computer skills (MS Office), work in confined spaces, aloft, all weather, various hours
• Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
• Positive demeanor, accountability, teamwork, active listening and learning

Nice to have

• Prior telecom operations technician experience
• Basic electricity training/certification
• ADSL installation/repair experience
• A+/Net+ certification
