Location: Hybrid in San Francisco office (4 days per week onsite, Tuesday WFH)

What you will do

• Design and implement core IAM components including identity models, authentication flows, and authorization systems
• Build enterprise features such as RBAC, SSO (SAML/OIDC), SCIM provisioning, MFA, and audit logging
• Own end-to-end delivery of IAM features from design to production rollout and monitoring
• Collaborate with API, Billing, Cloud Platform, Console, Infrastructure, and Security teams for consistent identity patterns
• Contribute to API design, system architecture reviews, debugging production issues, and improving reliability/observability
• Mentor junior engineers and elevate engineering quality

Requirements

• 5+ years backend or platform engineering experience
• Strong experience with authentication/authorization systems
• Solid IAM fundamentals: OAuth2, OIDC, SAML, RBAC/ABAC, identity lifecycle
• Experience building distributed systems in cloud/SaaS environments
• Strong Python or Go skills for production backend systems
• API design and service-oriented architectures
• Ability to own projects, debug, problem-solve, and communicate effectively

Nice to have

• Enterprise IAM features (SSO, SCIM, MFA, audit logs)
• Familiarity with Okta, Auth0, WorkOS
• Multi-tenant system design
• Developer platforms or infrastructure products
• Cloud security best practices
• Customer interaction for IAM requirements
• Strong academic background (EECS, Math, Software Engineering, Physics)
