What you will do

• Scale the foundation of the Claude API, owning the performance, reliability, and efficiency of the core serving path.
• Productionize frontier model capabilities including vision, tool use, and computer use for developers.
• Transform the API into a cloud-native, managed product capable of running cross-cloud and on internal infrastructure.
• Build secure data retrieval and processing systems to enable the model to act as a knowledge worker.
• Develop the infrastructure and APIs necessary for agentic applications, including multi-step reasoning and task execution.
• Create foundational enterprise systems for permissions management, security, and compliance to support large-scale organizational adoption.

Requirements

• 5+ years of industry experience as a backend or product engineer, leading complex, multi-month projects.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, or similar backend languages.
• Experience with modern cloud infrastructure and building scalable distributed systems.
• Strong product sense and the ability to translate product requirements into technical implementation.
• Must be based in or able to work from San Francisco, New York City, or Seattle.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice to have

• Experience building billing, payments, or financial infrastructure with high data consistency.
• Familiarity with containerization, sandboxed execution, or security-focused infrastructure design.
• Experience with IAM systems, including SSO, RBAC, and authentication/authorization.
• Exposure to ML/AI systems and an understanding of LLM inference and model serving pipelines.
• Experience with multi-cloud patterns or building internal developer tools and CI/CD systems.
