What you will do

• Deliver full HV/EHV cable system designs (33kV–400kV) from concept through to detailed design and construction support.
• Perform and review critical cable calculations, including ampacity (CYMCAP), thermal modelling, and short-circuit ratings.
• Develop installation methodologies and assess pulling tensions and sidewall bearing pressures.
• Define survey requirements (topographical, PAS128, GI) and integrate outputs into design deliverables.
• Ensure strict compliance with National Grid, DNO, IEC, and BS standards.
• Mentor junior engineers and drive continuous improvement in internal design processes.

Requirements

• Strong experience in HV/EHV underground cable design (33kV–400kV).
• Proven track record of delivering cable design packages for National Grid and/or UK DNO projects.
• Proficiency in CYMCAP, Cableizer, and AutoCAD.
• Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Must be based in or able to work onsite in Gloucester, UK.

Nice to have

• Chartered Engineer status or working towards it.
• Experience supporting construction or commissioning phases.
• Experience in trenchless installation methods such as HDD or microtunnelling.
