TL;DR

Systems Architect (Aerospace): Designing and architecting safety-critical flight systems for autonomous aircraft with an accent on system decomposition, functional allocation, and regulatory compliance. Focus on defining complex physical and logical architectures to ensure safety and security in a dynamic startup environment.

Location: Must be based in the U.S. (Remote or Mountain View, CA). Requires U.S. person status or export control compliance.

Salary: $190,000 – $300,000

What you will do

  • Define novel functions for autonomous aircraft control and contingency management.
  • Perform decomposition of aircraft and system functions to define physical and logical architectures.
  • Conduct trade studies to assess performance, risk, complexity, and cost of technical solutions.
  • Collaborate with safety analysts to ensure architectural features meet rigorous safety and security requirements.
  • Derive and validate requirements and interfaces to ensure correct implementation across design levels.
  • Support the full product lifecycle from development through production, testing, and certification.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of experience designing and integrating complex safety-critical aerospace systems.
  • Must be a U.S. person or eligible for export control authorization.
  • Ability to work independently and cross-functionally.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time.

Nice to have

  • Advanced degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Proven ability to justify architectural solutions to regulatory authorities.
  • Experience with aerospace certification standards including ARP4754A, ARP4761, DO-254, and DO-178C.
