What you will do

• Architect and design scalable, high-performance backend systems in AWS, prioritizing reliability, security, and cost efficiency.
• Contribute hands-on to coding, prototyping, performance tuning, and debugging (approximately 30% of time).
• Lead cross-team technical initiatives, drive design forums, and establish engineering guardrails.
• Partner with Product, Design, and Data Science teams to define project scope and de-risk execution.
• Own the design of APIs and microservices using REST and event-driven patterns.
• Improve operational excellence by defining SLOs, improving observability, and leading incident response.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with large-scale backend systems in production.
• 3+ years of hands-on technical leadership experience as a Tech Lead or Manager.
• 5+ years of experience with Golang (preferred) and/or Java.
• Deep understanding of AWS cloud-native architectures (ECS/EKS, Lambda, DynamoDB, RDS, S3).
• Proficiency with microservices, Docker, Kubernetes, and event-driven systems.
• Permanent right to work in the UK (visa sponsorship is not available).
