TL;DR

Senior Manufacturing Engineer (Aerospace): Developing and optimizing manufacturing, installation, and maintenance processes for automated aviation systems with an accent on safety-critical hardware integration and regulatory compliance. Focus on hands-on installation, conducting DFx reviews, and building scalable infrastructure to transition products from prototype to production.

Location: Must be based in Albuquerque, NM, with 30% travel required to San Martin, CA.

Salary: $135,000 – $190,000

What you will do

  • Manage the installation, inspection, and maintenance of mechanical, electromechanical, and avionics assemblies.
  • Conduct design for excellence (DFx) reviews to ensure producibility, cost-efficiency, and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with design and certification teams to embed manufacturability and risk mitigation into product development.
  • Develop and maintain compliance with quality management systems, technical bulletins, and airworthiness directives.
  • Ensure accurate documentation for all installation and inspection records.
  • Lead root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions to maintain quality and schedule reliability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or Systems Engineering, or 7+ years of relevant aircraft maintenance experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in aircraft design, manufacturing, inspection, or testing.
  • 2+ years of experience leading complex projects in aerospace, autonomy, or robotics.
  • 2+ years of experience with CAD and PLM software (e.g., Altium, NX, Teamcenter).
  • Must be a U.S. person to comply with U.S. export control laws.
  • Willingness to travel 30% of the time for training and operations.

Nice to have

  • FAA-accredited Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate.
  • Experience with AS9100, 14 CFR 21.137, or 14 CFR Part 145.
  • Knowledge of turbine-powered aircraft systems and P&W PT6A engines.
  • Previous leadership or management experience.
