Salary: $170,000 – $210,000 + Equity

What you will do

• Design, build, and ship backend services supporting user-facing features across mobile and web platforms.
• Lead backend technical planning and contribute to architectural decisions to improve scalability and performance.
• Collaborate closely with frontend engineers, product managers, designers, and data partners.
• Identify and implement backend optimizations to proactively improve user experience.
• Create and maintain clear technical documentation for a growing distributed engineering organization.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience building and scaling backend systems in consumer tech or fintech.
• Expertise in designing and operating distributed systems, APIs, and data flows.
• Experience with message brokers, event-driven systems, and caching/performance optimization strategies.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical execution and mentor other engineers.
• Must be based in the United States.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with functional programming concepts.
• Experience with Node, TypeScript, fp-ts, Kubernetes, and AWS.
