Backend Tech Lead (Fintech)

Location: Hybrid in Melbourne CBD (general expectation of 4 days on-site per week)

What you will do

• Drive architectural solutions to build and scale hirify.global’s POS and Invoice products.
• Write production TypeScript code regularly as a core contributor.
• Lead and manage a multi-region team of three software engineers, focusing on development plans and learning culture.
• Own operational excellence for systems, including monitoring, incident response, and reliability.
• Partner with product managers as joint owners of product success to shape the roadmap.
• Champion modern development practices, including the adoption of generative AI tools.

Requirements

• Experience owning and scaling customer-facing backend platforms.
• Proven track record of coaching software engineers and driving team capability uplift.
• Strong expertise in backend system design and rational decision-making.
• Experience working in product-driven companies with a focus on pace and delivery.
• Must be based in or able to work from the Melbourne CBD office.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
