Principal Engineer (Fintech)

Principal Engineer (Fintech): Designing and building highly available, reliable, and scalable payments applications with an accent on payment tokenization and cloud-native architecture. Location: Must be based in the US (restricted to CA, CO, CT, FL, IL, NY, NC, OR, TX, VA, WA) or Canada. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship is provided.

Salary: $175,000 - $240,000 a year

What you will do

• Design, develop, and champion best practices, patterns, and standards for all payments applications.
• Collaborate with the CTO and architects to create holistic technology solutions for customers.
• Drive iterative delivery strategies, remove roadblocks, and mentor engineers on architecture best practices.
• Produce actionable design documents, architecture blueprints, and detailed architectural decisions.
• Perform hands-on development of proof-of-concepts, prototypes, and production-ready code.
• Engage in the full software lifecycle, including design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in software architecture, design, and development within a Cloud SaaS environment.
• Extensive experience building highly available and scalable SaaS platforms.
• Strong proficiency in Java, Spring Framework, Python, and AWS services.
• Solid understanding of microservices, CI/CD (GitHub Actions, Argo), GitOps, Docker, Kubernetes (EKS), and Kafka (MSK).
• Experience with Observability solutions using Grafana and Open Telemetry.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the US throughout employment.

• Experience with payments technologies and ecosystems, including card networks and PSP integration.
