Principal Engineer (Finance)

TL;DR

Principal Engineer (Distributed Systems/Finance): Designing and delivering large‑scale, high‑performance platforms for Fixed Income Credit Research and Global Liquidity with an accent on architectural vision, cloud-native platforms, and financial system modernization. Focus on building scalable distributed systems, overseeing system reliability engineering, and translating complex financial needs into compliant technical solutions.

Location: Atlanta, Georgia. Must spend at least four full days each week working in an hirify.global office.

What you will do

• Lead architectural vision and long-term technical strategy for enterprise financial systems.
• Design scalable, distributed, cloud-native platforms supporting trading, investment, risk, and analytics workloads.
• Build and deliver high-performance services with a focus on reliability, security, and scalability.
• Guide engineering teams through complex problem-solving, performance tuning, and modernization efforts.
• Ensure platforms achieve high availability, low latency, disaster recovery readiness, and strong observability.
• Mentor senior engineers and foster an engineering culture focused on excellence and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• 10+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, including 3+ years in a principal or staff-level role.
• Expertise building distributed systems, event-driven architecture, and cloud-native applications.
• Strong proficiency in one or more languages such as Java, C#, Python, or Go.
• 5+ years of experience in SQL Server/RDBMS and 3+ years of ReactJS experience.
• Solid understanding of financial systems, products, and data flows.
• Must be based in Atlanta, Georgia, and comply with the hybrid workplace model (4+ days in office).

Nice to have

• Experience with public cloud, specifically AWS.
• Experience with Snowflake or Everest (Allvue Front Office).
• Knowledge of Fixed Income and credit markets.
