Senior Staff Software Engineer (C++/Ad-tech)

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership for the design and implementation of the AIS audio streaming server (C/C++) and its AWS-based managed platform (Go).
• Design and build high-performance, stable, and scalable AdsWizz systems for enterprise-level deployment.
• Lead high-level architecture discussions, planning sessions, and mentor senior engineers to elevate engineering practices.
• Collaborate with Product and Global Operations teams to ensure flawless production deployments and support incident management.
• Take ownership of complex production issues, performing deep root cause analysis and implementing systemic improvements.
• Define and enforce performance, scalability, and reliability standards across all backend services.

Requirements

• Must be based in or able to work hybrid in Bucharest, Romania
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with deep expertise in modern C++ (14/17/20), including advanced memory management and concurrency.
• Proven experience architecting high-performance distributed systems with a focus on low latency, high throughput, and fault tolerance.
• Deep understanding of streaming protocols (HLS, RTMP, RTSP, ICY) and CDN-integrated architectures.
• 5+ years of experience designing and operating high-throughput backend systems in cloud environments (AWS preferred).
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.

Nice to have

• Experience with Rust for performance-critical components.
• Knowledge of advertising protocols and real-time bidding systems (OpenRTB, VAST).
• Proficiency in Go or Python for supporting services and tooling.
• Hands-on experience with streaming servers such as Shoutcast, Icecast, or Wowza.
• Knowledge of media container formats and codecs (MP3, MP4, H264, AAC).
