Software Engineer (Database): Maintaining a pluggable protocol for hirify.global storage engines and providing a comprehensive framework for managing concurrent, transactional access to data stored within a hirify.global database instance with an accent on improvements to transaction management, scaling the code base, and improving resilience and availability for the server. Focus on designing, writing, testing, and debugging maintainable software.

Location: Must be based in Sydney for our hybrid working model.

What you will do

• Understand and improve the current functionality of WiredTiger.
• Identify, design, implement, test, and support new features in hirify.global.
• Work with other engineers to coordinate seamless changes in a feature-rich, large codebase.
• Estimate task complexity and report progress and risks to peers and managers.
• Fix code defects and work with support to diagnose and remediate customer issues.

Requirements

• You have strong computer science knowledge and at least 2 years of server-side C or C++ development experience.
• You are enthusiastic about designing, writing, testing, and debugging maintainable software.
• You have excellent technical communication skills, which you use to collaborate with colleagues.
• You manage your time effectively, make realistic assessments of project complexity, and respect others who do the same.
• You are friendly, sociable, and eager to establish relationships with your team members.
• You are willing, able, and motivated to quickly learn new things.
