Senior AI Scientist (Fintech)

Location: Oakland, California, United States

Salary: $180,000–$243,500 per year, plus cash bonus, equity rewards, and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead the development of large-scale models that predict what members need and when they need it across multiple financial product verticals.
• Build recommendation logic balancing immediate revenue with member trust and long-term lifetime value.
• Define business metrics covering revenue, engagement, user experience, and related outcomes with engineering, product, marketing, finance, and analytics teams.
• Represent data science in cross-functional meetings and translate complex technical concepts for business stakeholders.
• Develop AI solutions spanning deep learning, reinforcement learning, recommendation systems, and generative AI for personal finance products.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, physics, or a related quantitative discipline.
• 5+ years of experience building and deploying machine learning models in production, ideally in consumer technology, fintech, or e-commerce.
• Expert proficiency in Python and SQL, with deep experience in modern machine learning and deep learning frameworks.
• Experience with ranking, retrieval, and multi-stage recommendation architectures.
• Ability to explain complex AI concepts to non-technical stakeholders and connect model performance with business outcomes.

Nice to have

• Experience in advertising or marketplace environments with trade-offs between product categories.
• Experience driving monetization, member engagement, and long-term customer value through AI.
• Experience with large-scale AI systems, AI infrastructure, data foundations, and self-service analytics.
