Staff Software Engineer (L4) Data Platform

Location: Remote, United States; not eligible for hiring in California, Washington, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, or Connecticut. Occasional travel may be required for project or team meetings.

Salary: $171,120–$213,900 annually for specified locations; other published ranges include $181,200–$226,500 and $201,280–$251,600 depending on location. Equity, bonus, and benefits may also apply.

What you will do

• Architect and implement scalable data systems, storage solutions, and processing frameworks.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in distributed systems and data technologies.
• Drive technical innovation and research into emerging data technologies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Ensure data quality, integrity, security, and compliance throughout the data lifecycle.
• Mentor and coach engineers while promoting technical excellence and continuous learning.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of software development or related experience.
• Experience architecting and delivering complex data projects at scale, with expertise in data infrastructure and distributed systems.
• Expertise in Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, and other distributed computing systems, plus experience with AWS.
• Proficiency in Python, Java, or Scala.
• Hands-on experience with Data Lakehouse architectures and Hudi, Iceberg, or Delta data formats.

Nice to have

• Contributions to open-source software projects.
• Familiarity with data modeling, data warehousing, and ETL processes.
