Location: Hybrid role based in Toronto, Ontario. Candidates must be able to work on-site at our studio for collaboration.

Salary: $1,500–$1,700 per week

What you will do

• Develop UVs, textures, and shaders for production environments, props, and sets.
• Collaborate with Art Directors and Supervisors to ensure the intended look is achieved within production guidelines.
• Maintain clean, predictable naming structures for all textures, shaders, and shading networks.
• Monitor and troubleshoot potential technical or creative issues during production.
• Work with other artists to maintain quality and consistency across assets.
• Contribute to workflow improvements by staying updated on emerging animation technologies.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a 3D Surfacer in series or feature animation.
• Strong understanding of 3D animation series pipelines.
• Advanced knowledge of Maya and Redshift shader development.
• Experience with UDIM, procedural surfacing, Houdini in a USD environment, and Substance tools.
• Proficiency with Autodesk Shotgrid/Flow for task management and logging work time.
• Ability to communicate technical and creative concerns effectively to teammates and supervisors.

Nice to have

• Strong traditional artwork portfolio.
• Knowledge of Xgen.
• Python scripting skills.
