What you will do

• Lead, coach, and mentor a team of data engineers while fostering an inclusive, high-performance culture.
• Define data engineering standards and best practices to ensure secure and efficient delivery.
• Review architecture and code while providing technical direction on complex engineering challenges.
• Partner with product managers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to translate needs into actionable engineering plans.
• Promote operational stability and excellence through robust monitoring, alerting, and incident response frameworks.
• Drive improvements in data quality, governance, and compliance including GDPR adherence.

Requirements

• Proven experience in managing and growing technical teams in a complex business environment.
• Strong hands-on experience building data pipelines on Databricks and Fabric within Azure.
• Deep knowledge of Spark internals, performance tuning, and partitioning.
• Expertise in batch and stream pipelines using kappa architecture.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL with experience in data modelling techniques like Kimball or Data Vault.
• Experience with Azure DevOps for CI/CD and data engineering deployments.

Nice to have

• Experience with Scala programming.
• Advanced knowledge of data lineage, cataloguing, and access control tools.
