What you will do
- Lead, coach, and mentor a team of data engineers while fostering an inclusive, high-performance culture.
- Define data engineering standards and best practices to ensure secure and efficient delivery.
- Review architecture and code while providing technical direction on complex engineering challenges.
- Partner with product managers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to translate needs into actionable engineering plans.
- Promote operational stability and excellence through robust monitoring, alerting, and incident response frameworks.
- Drive improvements in data quality, governance, and compliance including GDPR adherence.
Requirements
- Proven experience in managing and growing technical teams in a complex business environment.
- Strong hands-on experience building data pipelines on Databricks and Fabric within Azure.
- Deep knowledge of Spark internals, performance tuning, and partitioning.
- Expertise in batch and stream pipelines using kappa architecture.
- Proficiency in Python and SQL with experience in data modelling techniques like Kimball or Data Vault.
- Experience with Azure DevOps for CI/CD and data engineering deployments.
Nice to have
- Experience with Scala programming.
- Advanced knowledge of data lineage, cataloguing, and access control tools.
