Backend Engineer (Fintech)

TL;DR

Backend Engineer (Java/Fintech): Building and optimizing high-performance services for a regulated crypto trading platform with an accent on real-time data streams and complex business logic. Focus on designing robust, scalable microservices, owning the full deployment lifecycle, and leveraging AI-assisted development tools to drive engineering excellence.

Location: Must be based in Krakow, Poland (Hybrid: 3 days onsite, 2 days remote)

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain high-performance Java services using Spring Boot for real-time trading operations.
• Manage the full lifecycle of services from architecture to production deployment on AWS EKS using Kubernetes.
• Partner with cross-functional product and design teams to deliver high-impact features.
• Implement comprehensive observability solutions using Grafana, Honeycomb, and OpenTelemetry to ensure system reliability.
• Troubleshoot production incidents and participate in on-call rotations to maintain system uptime.
• Leverage AI-assisted tools to improve code quality, accelerate delivery, and push engineering boundaries.

Requirements

• Strong experience with Java, Spring Boot, and reactive programming patterns.
• Proven capability in managing production workloads on Kubernetes and AWS EKS.
• Proficiency with relational databases (PostgreSQL) and caching (Redis).
• Solid understanding of DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform).
• English proficiency required for communication in a globally distributed team.
• Must be able to work in a hybrid model from the Krakow office.

Nice to have

• Experience in financial services, trading platforms, or crypto/fintech domains.
• Hands-on experience with pair programming and TDD practices.
