Data Scientist (AI)

Location: Los Angeles office or remote within the United States

Salary: $180,000–$240,000 per year for people based in California

What you will do

• Build data-driven solutions and machine learning models for client projects and internal initiatives.
• Contribute to AI alignment research and propose high-impact research projects.
• Design, fine-tune, and evaluate LLM-based systems, including prompting, RAG, vector databases, and multimodal workflows.
• Build and train NLP or computer vision models using modern deep learning frameworks.
• Run lean Kanban or Scrum cycles, prototype with AI-powered tools, and ship user-focused solutions.
• Work independently while collaborating with engineers, designers, clients, and research teams.

Requirements

• Fluency in Python.
• Experience across the LLM lifecycle, including prompt engineering, RAG, few-shot prompting, chain-of-thought techniques, vector databases, multimodality, fine-tuning, and evaluation.
• Proven data science experience delivering impactful real-world outcomes.
• Strong statistical and causal machine learning fundamentals, including experimental design, uncertainty quantification, and rigorous model evaluation.
• Deep learning experience with NLP or computer vision using PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX.
• Effective communication in English and the ability to work remotely within the United States or from the Los Angeles office.
