Software Engineer (Go)

Location: US, Remote. The role is fully remote and may require up to 5% travel.

Base salary: $148,750–$190,000 annually, plus equity in the form of stock options.

hirify.global is a remote cybersecurity product company developing NodeZero, a platform for production-safe autonomous penetration testing and security assessment operations.

What you will do

• Implement and maintain API endpoints, middleware, and platform services in Go.
• Build and evolve the API gateway, including routing, authentication, rate limiting, and request/response shaping.
• Write and maintain OpenAPI and gRPC API contracts and communicate breaking changes to internal consumers.
• Improve platform reliability through monitoring, alerting, SLA tracking, and incident response.
• Write clear, testable code covering both successful and failure scenarios.
• Collaborate with Data Ingestion, Integrations Platform, and Client Platform teams.

Requirements

• 2+ years of professional experience building production backend services.
• Proficiency in Go or strong motivation to learn it quickly; Go is the primary language.
• Strong understanding of REST API design and HTTP semantics; gRPC experience is beneficial.
• Ability to reason about latency, error rates, retries, circuit breaking, and service reliability.
• Experience with Kubernetes-based environments and Docker-based development workflows.
• Familiarity with OAuth 2.0, API keys, and JWT authentication patterns, plus effective asynchronous communication.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kong, Envoy, NGINX, or comparable API gateway technologies.
• Exposure to Istio, Linkerd, or other service mesh architectures.
• Cybersecurity experience or experience building APIs for security tools.
• Experience with gRPC and protobuf-defined service contracts.
