What you will do
- Set multi-year technical strategy and align team efforts with high-impact business projects.
- Collaborate with product, design, and analytics to ensure technical sustainability and manage project trade-offs.
- Act as a force multiplier by defining technical solutions, design standards, and operational processes.
- Take ownership of system operations, including monitoring, triage, testing, and on-call rotations.
- Foster a culture of engineering excellence through code reviews, technical advocacy, and mentorship.
- Provide guidance and feedback to develop talent within the engineering team.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in designing and launching backend systems at scale.
- Proven expertise with Python or Kotlin.
- Extensive track record building highly available distributed systems using AWS, MySQL, Spark, and Kubernetes.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the UK.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
- Ability to define execution plans for major features and architectural changes.
