What you will do

  • Execute thin-film deposition and nanofabrication processes using advanced laboratory equipment.
  • Prepare substrates and manage complex process flows while maintaining detailed experimental logs.
  • Perform structural characterization to evaluate material quality and film properties.
  • Collaborate with AI and materials teams to translate experimental results into data-driven breakthroughs.
  • Troubleshoot technical process issues and iterate on workflows under senior guidance.
  • Adhere strictly to facility safety protocols and quality assurance standards.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a PhD/advanced degree in materials science, physics, chemistry, or related field.
  • Hands-on experience with thin-film processing or nanofabrication in research/academic labs.
  • Ability to operate deposition and fabrication tools with high attention to detail.
  • Strong documentation habits for maintaining experimental records.
  • Must be comfortable working independently within shared research facility environments.
  • Must be able to work on-site in Menlo Park, California.

Nice to have

  • Experience with cleanroom environments and fabrication facilities.
  • Familiarity with specific techniques such as sputtering, evaporation, PLD, or ALD.
  • Experience with thin-film characterization methods.
  • Exposure to materials research involving novel compounds or device structures.
  • Interest in the intersection of physical science and AI.
