Principal Product Designer

TL;DR

Principal Product Designer: Defining 0-1 product experiences and elevating the level of craftsmanship across the entire global product with an accent on visual craft, UI excellence, and systems thinking. Focus on integrating AI into the design workflow and product experience, ensuring ethical standards and user trust are always prioritized.

Location: Twice a week in the office (Palo Alto) + quarterly trips to Sao Paulo (Brazil) to build relationships with coworkers.

What you will do

• Lead the creation of 0-1 product experiences, setting a high bar for concept and quality.
• Spearhead the global transition to the new illustration system and define scalable guidelines.
• Define the structural patterns and widgets for the Nu homepage.
• Create a cohesive design language that feels like "one Nu" while allowing for local market flexibility.
• Act as an advisor to business leadership, translating organizational strategy into a tangible design roadmap.
• Mentor senior design leaders and foster a culture of open communication, empathy, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Extensive experience leading design at a global scale, with a portfolio that demonstrates world-class visual craft, UI excellence, and systems thinking.
• Ability to drive large-scale organizational transformations and influence enterprise-level strategy through design.
• Deep expertise in design systems, interaction patterns, and creating scalable frameworks for complex digital products.
• Ability to quickly prototype and articulate high-fidelity solutions that solve complex, ambiguous business problems.
• Mastery in communicating complex design logic to executive stakeholders and mentoring other designers.
• Experience working across diverse markets and cultures, with the ability to balance global consistency and local relevance.
