What you will do
- Lead the design and implementation of network security controls, firewalls, and access management within GCP.
- Collaborate with Cloud Platform, SRE, and Application teams to integrate security into cloud-native workflows.
- Conduct risk assessments, vulnerability analysis, and threat modeling for cloud-based network assets.
- Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code scripts to ensure secure, consistent, and compliant deployments.
- Monitor and respond to security incidents using SIEM, SOAR, and other advanced security tools.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineering staff and cross-functional teams.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in network security engineering, with at least 3 years dedicated to cloud environments (preferably GCP).
- Expert knowledge of cloud networking, including VPCs, subnets, load balancers, and NGFWs.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, zero trust principles, and segmentation strategies.
- Proficiency in automation and scripting using Python and Terraform.
- Experience with cloud security compliance standards such as SOC2, ISO27K, and GDPR.
- Must be legally authorized to work and reside in the US or Canada.
Nice to have
- Relevant certifications such as Google Professional Cloud Security Engineer, CISSP, or CCSP.
- Experience with container security, specifically Kubernetes and GKE.
- Proven ability to influence organizational security best practices.
