What you will do

• Provide legal and regulatory guidance across the model lifecycle while embedding legal and safety-by-design principles.
• Advise on data licensing, provenance, and attribution for synthetic and open-source data.
• Design policies for model and dataset publication, including open-weights license governance.
• Oversee the global privacy program including GDPR, CCPA, and cross-border data transfers.
• Track emerging AI legislation and brief leadership on safety and ethics trends.
• Manage regulatory engagement and liaise with agencies regarding emerging AI rules.

Requirements

• J.D. or equivalent degree with active bar membership.
• 8–12+ years of experience in top-tier law firms or technology companies.
• Significant exposure to AI/ML or advanced technology regulation.
• Strong understanding of global privacy regimes (GDPR, CCPA/CPRA).
• Proven ability to translate complex technical concepts into practical legal guidance for engineering teams.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with safety frameworks like NIST AI RMF or ISO/IEC 42001.
• Prior leadership experience in scaling legal functions.
• Experience contributing to AI policy development or engaging with standards bodies.
