Senior Developer Experience Engineer

Location: Hybrid role based in Mexico City, New York, or Toronto

Base salary: New York $188,000–$242,000 USD per year; Toronto $167,000–$215,000 CAD per year; Mexico City $1,680,000–$2,168,000 MXN per year.

What you will do

• Own and evolve CI/CD infrastructure, GitHub Actions workflows, and deployment pipelines to improve build times and deployment frequency.
• Build and maintain the Backstage developer portal, including the service catalog, golden path templates, and TechDocs integration.
• Create internal developer tooling and self-service capabilities for Go, Rails, and Vue.js services.
• Configure AI-assisted coding tools such as Claude Code and GitHub Copilot with organizational guardrails.
• Partner with SRE to measure developer experience metrics including build times, deployment frequency, and MTTR.
• Implement security and compliance automation while supporting documentation and developer education.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 3+ years building developer tooling, CI/CD systems, or infrastructure automation.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD platforms, especially GitHub Actions, and experience with developer portals or internal platform tooling.
• Experience with Kubernetes deployments and container orchestration.
• Proficiency in at least two programming languages and frontend development skills for portal interfaces and developer-facing tools.
• Strong systems thinking, reliability and scalability design skills, and excellent written communication.
• Ability to work in a hybrid setup based in Mexico City, New York, or Toronto.

Nice to have

• Infrastructure as Code experience with Terraform, CDK, or similar tools.
• Experience with feature management systems or workflow engines such as Temporal.
• Experience measuring developer productivity and configuring AI coding assistants such as Copilot, Claude Code, or Cursor.
