What you will do

• Own and optimize MongoDB and OpenSearch clusters housing billions of documents, including sharding and indexing strategies.
• Design and implement multi-tier storage strategies balancing hot production data and cold analytical storage.
• Build and maintain internal APIs to abstract database complexities for internal teams.
• Lead schema evolution and no-downtime migrations for large-scale data systems.
• Develop and evolve core data architecture supporting analytics, product features, and AI workflows.
• Ensure data quality, accuracy, and maintain comprehensive documentation.

Requirements

• Tax residency in Portugal.
• 5+ years experience in backend, data engineering, or data platform roles in high-volume environments.
• Expertise in MongoDB and OpenSearch/Elasticsearch tuning at massive scale.
• Strong Python skills with asynchronous programming experience (e.g., FastAPI).
• Knowledge of distributed systems, message queues (Kafka/RabbitMQ), and caching strategies.
• Familiarity with Data Lakehouse concepts and architectures.
• Fluent English required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Azure Cloud or equivalent.
• Experience with orchestration tools like Airflow or Prefect.
• Exposure to AI/ML workflows and data observability tools.
• Interest or experience in influencer marketing or social media analytics.
