What you will do

• Develop and maintain backend web applications using Python and Django or equivalent frameworks
• Design and operate microservices and distributed systems with a focus on reliability and scalability
• Work with RDBMS such as PostgreSQL and MySQL for data management
• Develop and operate cloud-based systems on AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Collaborate across teams, mentor junior developers, and contribute to architectural strategy
• Build products that support flexible energy usage and decarbonisation at scale

Requirements

• Must have 5+ years of professional backend development experience
• Hands-on experience with Python and Django or equivalent web frameworks
• Strong systems design skills including microservices architecture
• Experience with RDBMS like PostgreSQL or MySQL
• Experience with secure, reliable, high-transaction systems and cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Ability to work autonomously and collaborate effectively in a fast-changing environment
• Must be able to work in the UK

Nice to have

• Experience with HTTP/REST APIs, GraphQL, Celery, async processing
• Knowledge of Terraform, Packer, Consul
• Interest in environmental issues and energy industry
