Location: Hybrid in San Mateo, Los Angeles, or San Diego, USA. Requires coming into the office 2 times per week.

What you will do

• Develop and implement long-term strategies for building safe, ethical, and innovative AI products and tools.
• Design and maintain internal AI governance policies and frameworks to ensure compliance with evolving regulations and ethical standards.
• Monitor global AI regulatory developments and assess implications for product roadmaps and workflows.
• Manage AI intake and review processes, including AI governance workflows and reporting dashboards.
• Conduct ethical and safety risk assessments, advising teams on mitigation strategies related to bias, fairness, robustness, transparency, and societal impact.
• Partner with engineers, product managers, designers, and online safety to proactively identify unintended consequences and emerging risks.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience working in AI Governance, Responsible AI, AI Policy or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience leading cross-functional programs from strategy development through operational implementation, partnering with product, engineering, legal, and operations teams to deliver scalable (AI) governance solutions.
• Bachelor's degree or 10 years of equivalent work experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in AI ethics, Responsible AI, or technology policy.
• Deep understanding of sociotechnical AI risks, including systemic and emergent risk categories.
• Technical fluency in modern AI systems, particularly large language models.
• Proven ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and drive alignment.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills.
• English: B2 required.
• Work authorization for the USA is required.

Nice to have

• Strong understanding of AI safety concerns, experience in conducting risk assessments and evaluations.
• Familiarity with relevant regulations, standards and ethical guidelines (e.g., EU AI Act, OECD Principles, NIST AI RMF, ISO/IEC 42001).
• Industry experience in tech, gaming or interactive entertainment.
