What you will do

• Investigate and solve hard systems problems.
• Build or modify real systems for practical impact.
• Improve distributed systems, storage, compute & scheduling, performance engineering, reliability & observability, networking, and data pipelines.
• Develop systems for machine learning, including training/inference performance and evaluation infrastructure.
• Define clear hypotheses, instrument production systems, gather metrics, and validate hypotheses.
• Run experiments/benchmarks, analyze results, and communicate recommendations.

Requirements

• Must be able to work in-person in San Francisco.
• Currently pursuing a PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a relevant technical field.
• Proficiency with coding in C++, Java, Python, Rust.
• Ongoing research in systems topics such as DL/ML, information retrieval, systems security, cryptography, databases, networking, distributed systems, and compilers.
• Ability to adapt quickly in a dynamic environment with competing priorities.
