TL;DR

Software Development Engineer III (AI): Building and operating real-time AI-powered fraud and abuse detection systems with an accent on cloud-native decisioning, automated remediation, and LLM integration. Focus on designing low-latency, scalable pipelines, mentoring engineering staff, and driving technical excellence within a global travel payments platform.

Location: Must be based in Austin, TX, in a hybrid setup (at least three days a week in-office).

Salary: $146,000–$204,500

What you will do

  • Contribute to the design and implementation of low-latency risk decisioning systems using signals, rules, and models.
  • Deploy and operate ML-powered capabilities in production, collaborating with Data Science teams on experimentation.
  • Integrate Generative and Agentic AI into fraud detection and remediation workflows to accelerate mitigation.
  • Modernize platform infrastructure, including streaming pipelines, microservices, and CI/CD controls.
  • Maintain observability, safety mechanisms, and SLOs to ensure high service reliability and compliance.
  • Mentor fellow engineers and champion AI best practices within the technology ecosystem.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • Must be based in Austin, TX (no relocation assistance provided).
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience with deep involvement in production-grade ML/AI solutions.
  • Demonstrable experience with LLM/multi-agent frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, or equivalent.
  • Hands-on experience with RAG architectures, vector databases (e.g., Pinecone), and data orchestration frameworks.
  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language and distributed cloud-native engineering at scale (AWS, GCP, or Azure).

Nice to have

  • Proven track record operating fraud and risk systems at scale.
  • Experience with graph or sequence modeling and entity resolution.
  • Background in cloud cost optimization and capacity planning.
  • Experience in e-commerce, marketplace, or travel domains.
