Specialist Platform Engineer

TL;DR

Specialist Platform Engineer (DevOps): Design, build, and maintain foundational infrastructure, tooling, and automation for product teams to develop and deliver software efficiently with an accent on container orchestration, particularly with Kubernetes and other cloud-native tools. Focus on optimizing the use of public cloud resources, transitioning new applications to production, and adapting software development approaches to meet business pressures.

What you will do

• Collaborate with development teams to ensure infrastructure meets their requirements while promoting scalable application practices.
• Facilitate the seamless deployment of applications, focusing on reliability, observability, and performance, utilizing expertise in container orchestration tools.
• Stay current with technological advancements, introducing innovative solutions and addressing operational challenges through automation and optimization.
• Inform security practices and coach other users on best practices, designing solutions with security controls to mitigate security threats.
• Manage service components to ensure they meet business needs and key performance indicators.
• Liaise with other team members to coordinate changes across components.

Requirements

• Skills in scripting or application development, with proficiency in Python.
• Familiarity with infrastructure provisioning tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation, along with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) methodologies.
• A good understanding of networking and security principles.
• Ability to solve problems and analyze patterns in behavior and logs.
• Experience with continuous integration systems such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, and Jenkins.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency in English both in written and verbal forms.
